Despite a pretty wet start to the day it has been brilliant. Carrie Gibson, Maria Hearn and myself set off at 8 am to go up Ben Nevis. The climb begins on a well pitched path then becomes quite rocky. Towards the top there are a number of cairns which today appeared eerie in the mist, like hooded figures.
It was great to reach the summit by 10 am and I hope that I am inspiring people by doing this challenge. Maybe people who have faced an ‘unchosen’ challenge, maybe school children about to start a long school holiday.
We were back to the hostel by 11am, for a quick change into dry clothes, some food and off we pedalled into the sunshine. Scotland unveiled its beauty as we passed mountains, lochs and quaint fishing ports. The biking felt good and it is amazing to be completing a bigger adventure again (I have not done anything like this since I was ill). A few pit stops later – thanks Louis for seeing us off yesterday and the snack bag- and we made it to Oban. More food to come and hopefully a restful night!
